Eid al-Adha 2024/1445

As-Salāmu Alaykum Wa-Rahmatullāhi Wa-Barakātuh,

Alhamdulillah, with the blessings of Allah (SWT), we are approaching the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha. As we prepare to commemorate this significant day, it is our pleasure to announce the details for the Eid prayer at Dover Masjid.

This year, we will be holding only one Eid Salah. Given the anticipated turnout, the masjid may become very crowded. We encourage everyone to arrive early to ensure you find a spot inside the masjid.

Parking Advisory

As parking space at the masjid is extremely limited, we kindly request that you try to avoid bringing your car if possible. Consider walking, carpooling, or using public transportation to help ease congestion and ensure everyone can arrive on time.

Performing the Eid Salah

The Eid prayer has two raka’at performed in the normal way, with the only addition of six Takbirs, three of them in the beginning of the first raka’ah, and three of them just before ruku’ in the second raka’ah.

Important Reminders

  • Sunnah of Eid: Remember to perform the Sunnah of Eid by taking a bath (ghusl), wearing your best clothes, and refraining from eating until after the prayer.

  • Takbeer: Recite the Takbeer loudly on your way to the masjid:

    اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ. وَاَللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallahu Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar Walillahil Hamd

The translation of the Takbeer for Eid is:

Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no god but Allah. And Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest and to Allah belongs all praise.

  • Sacrifice (Qurbani): Ensure your Qurbani is done in accordance with Islamic guidelines and consider donating a portion to those in need.

Dua for the Ummah

Let us remember in our duas those who are less fortunate and those who are facing hardships around the world. May Allah (SWT) accept our sacrifices, prayers, and good deeds, and may He grant us all the ability to continue benefiting from the blessings of Eid throughout the year.

We look forward to seeing you all on this blessed day. May this Eid bring you joy, peace, and blessings. Eid Mubarak to you and your family!

Jazakallah Khair
